The Drop
"Let's do it." His brown eyes gleam with the reflection of the pouring water.
"You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking." I reply.
He simply smirks and gestures towards the water drop. "Come on, live a little."
"Yea, we gotta do the drop!" Chris says devilishly.
I roll my eyes. "I think I'll survive without it."
Daniel smiles victoriously. "Majority rules!"
He drags me, along with the rest of our friends over to the slide and we wait in line.
"I think I'm going to puke." My best friend announces as the line of people before us shortens.
"Chicken." Chris coughs not-so-subtly.
"Asshole." We cough back.
We're so mature.
Finally, it's our turn and the bored-looking lifeguard gestures us to go up the slide.
My legs are shaking with every step, and I'm cursing silently at the guy in front of me for talking me into this.
Finally, we are at the top; overlooking the long slide.
I can see the part where it ends and it is approximately eight metres above the water.
"Crap, I can't do this." My friend announces in a shaky voice.
"You can't back out now." Chris taunts from the rear.
"Seee youu!" Daniel voice echoes as he slides down.
A huge splash echoes from below.
"Selina?"
I turn around and realize that it's my turn now.
Joy.
Cursing myself and Daniel yet again, I place myself onto the slide and push.
I'm dreading the end of the ride; and as it approaches, my heart beats faster.
Am I a wouce or what?
As I'm falling through the air, there's this spilt second where I feel like I'm flying, and then I hit the water at an unreal speed.
As I swim back to the surface and start treading water; I feel a rush I have never felt before.
I swim to the edge and take the hand that Daniel's offering.
He smiles victoriously at my blushing cheeks.
"Wasn't that awesome?"
I narrow my eyes at him; temporarily hating him for being right.
"I am never doing that again in my life. Ever." My best friend chatters as Daniel helps her up as well.
I crack a smile at her stubborn attitude.
"Selina wants to do it again." Daniel says in a smug tone.
"I do not."
"Do too."
I stick my tongue out at him.
Mature, I know.
"So there was this split second when I was falling, and then I saw White Spot, and I totally froze." Chris says as he climbs out.
We all laugh.
“It’s not fair, you tree. You’re thin and you eat like a horse, Chris.” My friend complains. “You’re like the guy version of Selina.”
Daniel cracks up. “I think Selina actually eats more than Chris.”
“I do not!” I am quick to defend myself. “Chris can eat at least five hot dogs in one sitting. I can eat three, maximum.”
“Relax.” Daniel places his hand on my shoulder. “I was just joking.”
“Now you guys have me hungry.” My friend pouts.
"Food?" Chris suggests.
And so we walk towards the fast-food area of the water park; with the satisfaction of having tried the drop.
