The wind whips her blonde hair to and fro, and it's a never-ending tornado of honey-colored tresses blowing wildly around her heart-shaped, smiling face. She looks at the setting sun with a sentimental gleam in her eyes, and she doesn't really mind the light mist hitting her cheeks with every wave that crashes onto the shore.
The sun sets slowly, a turbulent mixture of red and orange casting a glow unlike any other across the dark purple sea. The waves move forward as the tide comes in, but the lonely girl makes no move to get out of the way as she waits.
The lukewarm water laps at her ankles, and she wiggles her toes as they sink into the sand. She watches the sun dip lower into the sea, turning everything a deeper shade of red.
She needs to head home; her mother is probably wondering where she is and what she's up to, but she can't pull herself away from the beauty of it all.
The moment is so calm, so peaceful, so blissfully serene, she almost doesn't hear his approach. He comes to stand beside her, letting his feet sink into the sand as well. He's late, and they both know it, but neither of them say anything.
Together, now, they stare at the sun until the sea swallows it up whole, and the darkness settles around them as stars begin to light up the sky, one by one.
She makes to move backwards, out of the way of the unforgiving tide, but her feet are stuck in the sand, and she trips, falling to her butt. Her denim shorts become soaked as a wave crashes into her.
Her companion laughs, as if he can't help himself, and he tugs her to her feet. He gets an arm around her neck and hauls her farther up the beach, ignoring her half-hearted attempts to swat at him.
They sidle up the beach towards the boardwalk, their necks craned up at the night sky. A small breeze flows in from the ocean, and they inhale the scent of the sea. They walk a ways down the boardwalk until they, not unlike the sun, disappear over the horizon.
AN: So Tibby, this is really very short, and I'm sorry. But I don't think I could risk adding anything else without ruining it. I'm not sure who the boy is, a friend or boyfriend or brother; whatever your heart desires. This is the only place I could picture you, so I went with it. I hope you like it. Love you, Tibs!
P.S. If anyone wants a one-shot, PM me and I'll get right on it
