Friendship.

"I knew from the start we'd be best friends..."
"She's supported me through everything I've done..."
"Our friendship is like this. You, are my heartbeat in my ears. I know what it is, and I know it's there, but I want it to go away..."
"All I wanted was to be friends again. But she had hurt me, and I hurt her. Wounds go very deep, and band-ains only soak up so much blood..."

Friendships online are so much different than those in real life.
In many ways, they mean much more. In others, not so much.
Through the trials and tribulations of members, friendships occur.
These, are those stories.

I decided to write this story based on some friendships that I've seen and some that I've had.
Two of these four short stories will be content and happy, the other two, not at all.
No friendship is ever 100% perfect. Yet, neither person is at fault.
The four quotes I've used are quotes that will be featured in the chapters. I do not know if anyone had used these before, but if they have, I give credit.
These will be set in a real life stage. The people will know eachother in real life.
No names or connections to the people featured will be named.
I also prefer you do not ask me who these people are. They won't be named.

When I first met my two friends, I thought it wasn't possible. We were so different. One, a writer. The next, an optimistic, modern day hippie in many ways. Then there was me, the girl who never wanted to be friends with them in the first place. Yet, we clicked instantly. And I thank my lucky stars for this every day.

Now, we walk aimlessly in a field, holding hands and laughing until we cry tears of joy. We're an odd group, voted the least likely to ever become best friends. We're sisters in many ways. Maybe not biologically, but mentally and emotionally we were sisters through, and through. They were the rock of my life, they kept me from falling apart at my seams. They kept me sane, and they knew it too.

"Let's stop, I'm getting tired," I murmured, the wind blowing my hair in my eyes.

So we stopped, and we sat. Just like old times. It was hard to believe we were friends for this long. Other friendships had come and left, but we had stayed. Through thick and thin, fights or not. We were a power friendship, a sorority of sorts.

"You know, I never thought we'd be friends in the first place. We're so different. We're the least likely to ever become best friends, but we did it." I glanced up at the blue sky, actually thinking back on the day we all became like this.

The two of them began to ramble on and on as I actual began to think about it. We instantly clicked, and my guard just came right down around them. Surely that had to be a tell tale sign that I knew we were going to be this close. Maybe I always knew, somewhere in my mind, that we WOULD be best friends. And we were. We laughed together, cried together, made fun of people together, everything.

"I always knew it. All along. We'd be the best of friends. I knew from the start we'd best friends." I interrupted their conversation to tell them something they probably already knew.

And then, we all stood up and hugged. We were in sync as friends. We were best friends.

And that wouldn't change anytime soon.

I look at you, and you stare at me. We both know this won't work. We're apples and oranges, black and white. I, am outspoken and I support you. You, you seem to laugh in my face when I need your help. You tell me who seems like the better friend now. Looking at you was like looking in a mirror three months ago. Now, now you're cold, heartless, and everything I once knew you could be. I feel silly to believe you could change.

"I'm so sorry," you murmur, your words meaning nothing anymore. You mean nothing.

"I don't care. What you said was wrong. I can't be friends with you. You're like a monster. An awful monster who thinks she's better than everyone else. But, no one cares." I feel the words fall from my lips, but I don't hear them. I hear nothing but the pulse in my ears.

"You told them everything! You made me sound like a fool!" You start crying now, on the verge of a dangerous breakdown. But an odd feeling sets in. The feeling of not caring. Indifference towards you.

"That doesn't matter. No one has ever said the things you said to me. I refuse to take your crap anymore. I'm not some fucking verbal punching bag to you! I'm sorry your life sucks, but look at how you treat people! Look what you did to HER. Look at what you did to ME." I scream, pointing at a picture I have crushed in my hand. It was the two of us with a good friend. you didn't just ruin me, you ruined a good person, too.

"That wasn't my fault!"

"BULL SHIT!"

I'm glaring, my heart threatening to burst with the pent up anger, frustration, and stress. I begin to feel light headed, but I'm not done yet. You don't get to treat me like this ever again.

"You don't get to do this to me anymore. You don't get to 'say things you don't mean,' then come back and try to be my best friend. I can't handle this anymore. You, are a bitch, and you can't change. I tried to help you change, but you wasted my time. This is some sick game to you. Well, I quit. I surrender. Now get the hell out of my life." I watch her burst into tears.

You begin to babble about people hating you, your best friends hating you. How this is my fault, and I am wrong. But no, you are wrong. If they hate you, you made it that way. I tried, but it didn't work.

"Goodbye." I whisper, not upset. Whispering just feels right. I leave you there, to deal with your anger on your own.

I don't need you.

I never really did.
