“Alright, who hasn't done a crazy dare yet?”Kelsey asked,, taping her chin as she glanced around the bonfire.
It was once again, another Friday night bonfire at Kelsey's house. Summer was in complete swing and now that sophomore year was over, we felt on top of the world. There were eight chairs circling the flaming pit as always.
“Oh. Wait. I got it.” Alex grinned, glancing over at Chris.
Chris sat up straight. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Alex leaned over and whispered something to Natalie. I watched Natalie burst out laughing and I couldn't help but smile. Chris was in for it. Good. His ego needed to be deflated anyway.
Everyone glanced around at each other, wondering what Alex, Natalie and now Kelsey had planned.
“Chris..” Natalie said, tapping her fingers against the arm rest on her chair.
Lane swatted a mosquito on his arm, interrupting the silence.
“What...?” Chris asked, hesitantly.
Alex looked over at Kelsey and nodded. “Do it.” He instructed.
Kelsey adverted her eyes to me.
What?
“Chris. We want you to kiss Elizabeth's neck.” Kelsey said.
Chris and I both turned and stared at each other.
Lydia, who had been quiet this entire time, burst out laughing.
Chris turned from me and focused his attention on Alex. “Seriously man?”
“Seriously. You're out of chickens.” Alex replied, leaning back in his fold up chair.
“Alright, the hell with it.” Chris said, getting up. He took the chair next to me and shrugged.
I shook my head and laughed. What had we gotten into?! I ran my hand through my hair and watched Chris. He had his eyes focused on my neck and refused to meet my gaze. Time seemed to slow as I soon felt his breath on my neck. Everyone around a disappeared and the light faded to black as I closed my eyes. And then I felt his lips on my neck. They were soft and so welcoming. My breath became uneven. And then it was gone. The warm feeling from where his lips had been pressed against my neck was gone. The cool night air took any remaining feeling from me. I reopened my eyes and found Chris gazing at me.
Our moment was quickly interrupted when we heard Kelsey move on to her next victim to dare. Chris shifted his eyes from me and awkwardly coughed. “Right...” He muttered to himself and stood up, moving back to his original spot by Lane.
Time moved deathly slow after the kiss, and when I got home, one thing was for sure.
I could not get mine and Chris's intimate moment out of my mind.
