Chapter Five
Kacie went in the bathroom to check her hair and make up one more time before Jarred got here. She thought it over and maybe, just maybe he could be more than just a friend.
She smiled at herself in the mirror, her curls were still perfectly curly. Her bright red hair made her piercing green eyes pop, and her make up was flawless.
A wave of guilt washed over her. She blew off her best friend. Her expecting best friend. And for what? A guy?
She considered quickly texting Jarred asking for a rain check, but then she wondered if she would ever get the chance to hang out with him again?
He was always with that one girl, what's her name, Anna? Allie? Amy?
Plus he was really cute, and she could see Janie anytime. She had months before the baby comes to talk about it.
The fake sense of self assurence that blowing off her best friend was okay made her feel alittle better, even though she knew it was wrong.
A knock on the door made all of her worries and wonders fly out the window.
Kacie walked over to the door and opened it for Jarred to walk in, but instead of having her biology partner standing in the doorway, she saw that girl he would always be hanging around with.
"Hi?" Kacie said with a puzzeled look on her face, not knowing why this girl was here, or how she found out where she lived?
"Um, hello Kacie" She said, avoiding Kacie's questioning eyes.
"Yeah...can I help you...?" Kacies voice trailed off when she remembered she didn't know her name.
"Amy."
"Well can I help you Amy?" Kacie asked, her voice sounded slightly annoyed. Where was Jarred?
"Well, uh..I wanted to, uh..return s-something of yours..." Amy stuttered and choked out. Amy looked down at her feet, like she was trying to think of some excuse.
"What?" Kacie asked, she had never let Amy borrow anything of hers and she didn't have anything missing. She knew she was just making this up on the spot.
Amy reached into her back pocket and pulled out a pencil,
"I think this is your pencil" Amy said in a quiet voice, still looking down.
Kacie arched her eyebrows, what a pathetic excuse.
"Nope."
"Oh, well is Jarred here?" Amy asked, now looking right into Kacies eyes.
"Ohhhh, so that's why your here, to find your little boyfriend." Kacie tried her hardest to hold in the laugh that was building up inside of her.
"He's not my boyfriend." Amy snapped at her, She was shocked that this pathetic girl was giving her attitude at her own house.
"Oh he's not? Well good, I'll make him mine then" Kacie said in with a slutty smile following. This girl was getting on her nerves and she wanted her gone before he got here. Because she did not intend on inviting her to hang out with them.
As if on cue in a movie, Jarred walked up the drive right when Kacie and Amy were about to throw down.
"Hey Kacie" Jarred smiled, like he didn't even realize Amy was standing right next to him.
"Hey babe" Kacie said pulling him in for a hug, he was caught off gaurd but returned the hug anyway.
Amy glared at her, but Kacie just winked at her. They pulled apart and then Jarred finally noticed his friend Amy standing right beside him.
"Oh, um, hi Amy. What are you doing here?" He asked, confused on why she was there. It's not like the two girls were actually friends. Or have ever talked before this day.
"She was just leaving." Kacie answered for her and pulled Jarred into the house followed by the door closing leaving Amy out there all alone.
"I'm so glad you came over" Kacie said leading him into the living room.
"Yeah me too" He smiled at her, she blushed.
"So are you feeling any better than before?" He added on, refering to science class when she felt pretty low.
"Alittle" Kacie shrugged, she looked down to the ground. She didn't feel like talking about it at the moment because it will just remind her about Janie, which will remind her how she ditched her, which will make her feel guilty again.
"Well thats good" Jarred said sitting down on the couch, he patted the spot next to him motioning Kacie to sit down by him.
She sat down very close to him, not even an inch was seperating them.
"Sooo, I have a question" Kacie said putting her hand on his thigh and tracing shapes.
"Yes?" Jarred asked, leaning slightly closer to her.
"Whats with you and that Amy girl?" Kacie asked looking right into his eyes.
"what do you mean? He slightly leaned away from her.
Kacie moved towards him alittle more, but not to much closer.
"Like your always around her, I was shocked when you said we could hang because I thought you would just be to busy with her" Kacie made a pouty face.
"She's just a friend, and I would always make time for you" He gave her a half-smile. She felt like her heart had melted because of it.
Kacie smiled back and leaned in even closer anf gave him a kiss, then another, and another.
Maybe not hanging out with Janie today wasn't so bad.
