just gotta have faith.
“So, what do you want to be when you grow up?”
His chuckle filled the air. “Grow up? I already grew.”
I smiled and shook my head in the broad sunlight.
“Whatever happened to you being like Peter Pan?” I asked, a smirk on my face.
He looked down at me his eyes reading nothing but pure happiness.
“Well, sorry to break it to ya, Kid, but reality set in.”
Reality? What is that exactly? I thought as I looked down at the roses blooming below us.
A moment of peaceful silence overcame us and then, walking down the sidewalk was a group of men. The group consisted of three and they were staring straight at me.
I looked up at him but it seemed as if, he didn’t notice them.
“Who’s the girl right there?”
One of them asked.
“Who?” he asked and slowly grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly.
The group walked closer.
“I said, ‘whose that girl?’”
He shook his head and said, “I’m afraid I don’t know whom you’re talking about.”
Then, in one quick move the man raised a gun and pointed it at my head. The silver pistol felt cold against my skin.
He saw me and I read his eyes once again. They no longer read happiness they read fear.
“Don’t hurt her,” he whispered putting his hands up.
The men started dragging me.
“I said, don’t hurt her!” he belted and he lunged at the guy.
Then it happened…
That gunshot appeared and my life flashed before my eyes. I saw my own blood brother die before my eyes. Only at ten years old. The scene of screaming and blood filled my mind and I was frozen.
I couldn’t hear anything. I couldn’t even see anything. I was hypnotized by my dead brother lying before me.
He was all I had.
He was gone.
