FOUR
Leighton...
Leighton walked outside to the front of the school and waited for her mom to pick her up, it was hot, humid, and she was freaking out about her hair. She didn't want it to friz, what girl would?
Almost all the students were gone or leaving, it became obvious that her mother had no clue what time to pick her up. She rolled her eyes and began to walk home. Fifteen miles wasn't that long, right?
She picked the wrong day to wear wedges.

Leighton was feeling like she was about to die on the fifth mile, she dropped her bag and sat for a break. Her legs and lungs were killing her, she thought she must of had asthma or something. She took a deep breath and continued to walk.
She heard the sound of wheels of a car coming up behind her, that better be my mom. she thought.
The truck stopped right behind her,
"Hey! Need a ride?" She heard Bennett yell over the engine of the ford truck.
"Oh! That would be great!" Leightons face brightened up and she she smiled happily. She lugged her stuff in the truck and slipped into the passengers seat.
"Maybe you should just ride with me from now on, since we live right across the street from each other." Bennett gestured to her with a half smile.
"That would be great, I wouldnt have to worry about my mother forgetting." Leighton laughed, Bennett laughed along with her.
She felt gittery inside knowing that she had a friend, Some people here were not that friendly here in South Carolina to people who were 'yankees'.
"Great, so why'd you move down here?" He asked.
They stopped at a red light and he looked right at her. She once again tried not to blush.
"Uh, well just some stuff got out, haha" She gave a nervous chuckle and avioded his eyes.
"Oh ok" Bennett said. The car was quite for alittle bit.
The silence grew uncomfortable. Leighton noticed that they passed the neighborhood.
"Uh, Bennett?" Leighton said, still looking at the nieghborhood sign getting smaller and smaller in the distance.
"Yes?" He said with a crooked little smile, Leightons heart melted alittle.
Bennett...
Bennett was overjoyed when Leighton said yes to him driving her everyday to school. Maybe the more time they would spend together the more she would like him? Who knows.
He didn't like the akward silnce so he thought he would take her to have some fun.
"Where are we going?" She asked, sounding so confused.
"We are going to hang out, and get food" He said and smiled at her.
He saw out of the corner of his eye that she started to blush again, he thought that was so cute.
He pulled into the local hot dog place, kind of the rip off version of the Varsity in Antlanta.
"Uh, Yummy?" Leighton said when the walked into the place, the smell of greasey food lingered in the air.
"Dont let it fool you, its good in a way" Bennett laughed.
Leighton laughed and he gave her a confused look, not knowing what was so funny.
"Sorry, I just adore your southern acsent! Its so cute!" Leighton gushed. Bennett chuckled and smirked, he led her to an empty booth and sat down across from her.
Leighton smiled and looked at the menu,
"So explain this to me, why do you think this is good food?" She laughed while looking at the menu with one eyebrow raised, questioning how good the food must really be.
"Well I like, you'll get used to it" Bennett smiled at her.
Suddenly her phone vibrated and fell off the table, when she bent down to pick it up her dress lifted slightly reveiling a big blue-black bruise on her upper thigh.
"What happened?" Bennett asked conserned. He's never seen something that bad before.
"Oh nothing, its nothing." Leighton said and hurried to pull her dress down, Being careful not to touch the nothing that was there.
"Whatever it is, it looked very painful" He said, his eyes still fixed on her leg.
"Lets switch the topic. What sports do you play?" Leighton said fast.
"I play many" He couldnt really consentrate anymore, he wanted to know what happened, even if it was her just tripping. He still cared.
"Oh thats cool" She smiled at him.
He thought even she knew her beauty could get any guy to forget what he just saw.
He smiled back at her and lpointed at the menu to show her what was the best thing to order, when she waved the waiter over, he noticed a scar running from her wrist all the way to the crease in her elbow.
What happened to her that was so bad?
Spencer...
At school that day he over heard the teachers talking about what happened to Leighton, if they knew why didn't they ever speak up? Why didn't they do something to help that girl?
He got so mad he went home,
he tried texting her again but of course, she doesn't reply.
He looked up flights to South Carolina for the dates during fall break.
If she wasn't going to answer him, he was coming to her.
