.Prologue.

I looked at all the headstones in the cemetary. My brother was gone. Never to be seen again. He was under the ground. To rot. But his soul, was surely gone to Heaven. I knew that. My brother, my loving, protective older brother, was the sweetest guy in the world. He was going to be at peace with the angels. He would be my guardian angel, with plush feather wings, a cloak of cream, and a white-gold halo above his head. No. I said to myself. He would be wearing jeans, a leather jacket, and some Converse. I smiled to myself. I know he would be watching me, with all the airplanes in the night sky.

Dianna Hasel stared out the window, waiting for the tears to stop. Waiting for the pain to soothe away and for Dianna to feel her body start to work again. Eric was gone. And they had to go to the funeral. Dianna searched through her closet looking for any black. Eric had always told her to be bright always so you will never stop shining. I found a black silk and lace skirt and a black cotton cami. I wore black leggings underneath and wore a neon orange bracelet. I would keep Eric's promise. I brushed my hair and put it in a pony, washed my face, and brushed my teeth. I would look good for Eric. I slid on my purple Converse and inspected myself in the mirror. I would never be ready for this. I walked out of the door and went to the kitchen, my mom was there, eating an orange.
"Are we going?" I asked in a small voice that I knew wasn't mine.
